About MIT-Kalaniyot
The MIT-Kalaniyot program is a faculty-led initiative focusing on two main goals that are mutually reinforcing: building a stronger Jewish and Israeli MIT campus community and deepening ties with Israeli researchers.
About the MIT-Kalaniyot Sabbatical Scholars Program
The MIT-Kalaniyot Sabbatical Scholars Program was created to bring established researchers from Israeli institutions to spend their sabbatical year at MIT. The program is open to researchers in all areas of study at MIT. The objective is for Israeli researchers to build strong personal ties during the program, while enlarging the circle of MIT faculty who collaborate with Israelis. Sabbatical scholars will be selected competitively and will be provided with financial support to reduce the financial burden of living near campus, so they can fully participate in campus life and research.
Eligibility
MIT-Kalaniyot welcomes applications from all faculty and researchers who hold sabbatical-eligible academic or research appointments at Israeli research institutions.
The MIT-Kalaniyot program embraces the diversity of Israel and strongly encourages applications from Jews, Arabs and other minority communities, from all parts of the state and all its academic institutions.
Appointment Terms
Fellowships are for up to one full calendar year and require the scholar to be in residence at MIT for both a fall and a spring semester, although not necessarily in that order. We will not consider applications for shorter durations or remote appointments.
Stipend
Scholars will receive a stipend of up to $40,000 for living expenses in addition to full coverage of MIT medical insurance for them and any immediate family members joining them.
